As a previous member of the National Policy Forum, I am seeking your CLP’s nomination for this year’s NPF. I have played an active part in the Economy Business and Trade Policy Commission.
For Labour to remain in power, we need to adopt policies that lead to economic growth. This should include an expanded programme of public sector investment to provide the services the country deserves. This will improve household incomes and reduce unemployment.
The socialist solutions of full employment, a guarantee of secure homes, security at work, a fully-funded NHS and a national education service are aims we will all share. Integrating social care with health care is a necessary and long-awaited objective.
The Government should adopt a land value tax making for a fairer tax system through abolition of the regressive Council Tax, Business Rates and Stamp Duty.
A more peaceful world will be achieved by renegotiation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.
I am currently CLP secretary, a post I have held for most of the time since 1990 along with other posts. I have served as vice-chair of the Regional Labour Party. In Unite, I am a member of its National Political Committee and am also a member of the Co-op Party, the Socialist Educational Association and the Socialist Health Association.
Please also nominate - Rachel Garnham, Caoimhe Ní Dhónaill, Shahid Nadeem and Catherine Howells (youth).
